What does a Woolly mammoth sound like? No one really knows for sure. Originally a clap of thunder was part of the sound effect for the mammoth diorama at the Royal BC Museum but that sound was removed. It didn’t just frighten small children, it was not supported by new climate research. Thunderstorms were likely not typical 1.8 million to 10,000 years ago during the Pleistocene Era, when mammoths walked British Columbia. Visit the Learning Portal timeline here.
