Documenting the Pandemic
by Leon KopyIn April 2020, I asked my Social Studies 9 class to take some pictures around their neighbourhoods. These pictures had to be reflective of how people were dealing with or adapting to the “new normal” of living through the COVID-19 pandemic. They had to tie their pictures to 4 different historical concepts: historical significance, cause and consequence, historical perspective, and continuity and change. In this way, the students are creating primary historical documents that may be used by historians in the future! Here are some of their results:
