Oligocene Whale Rib

This is a rib from an Oligocene whale, dated to be about 23 to 33 million years old. The rib was found at Muir Beach on Vancouver Island in 2015. With this rib and other fossils from the area, we can try to pinpoint what kind of whale it is from. Learning about whales from the past helps us learn more about the whales that we know today!
