Rotted House Post

The dark coloured circle shows the remains of a long rotted house post that was dug into a light coloured soil. Archaeologists call this kind of evidence a feature. Features, like artifacts, provide information about the way people lived in the past, but unlike artifacts they are not easy to pick up and carry away.
