Silk taffeta dress that belonged to a woman in about 1860. The plaid pattern, wide sleeves and fringe decoration are typical of the fashion at that time. The white cotton undersleeves and collar were removable for washing. A distinctive bell-shaped skirt was worn with petticoats over a wire-hoop crinoline.
